Welcome to LaCount Law, a boutique business law firm specializing in national and international transactions and arbitrations involving information technology, software development and implementation, semiconductors, internet and ecommerce, life sciences and other advanced technologies.

Technology-based business transactions, including the sale and acquisition of technology assets, and international trade and distribution matters have been the heart of Stephen LaCount’s practice since moving to California to become general counsel at AST Research, a top-tier personal computer company that was acquired by Samsung Electronics. 1990 marked Stephen’s career transition from “in-house” to law firm practice where he spent 15 years as senior partner or counsel in two national law firms ranked in the “top 100” prior to establishing his own firm in 2005.

Stephen is also a long-standing member of the American Arbitration Association's National Roster of Neutrals and has arbitrated a wide variety of disputes involving software and intellectual property rights, franchise terminations, and technology-related agreements and transactions.

He previously served as the Laspa Visiting Professor at Harvey Mudd College (Claremont) and currently teaches business law courses to undergraduate students at Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.

Stephen H. LaCount is one of Southern
California's best-known tech transactions and international trade and distribution lawyers. During his 35-year career as an in-house counsel and law firm partner, he has represented clients ranging from start-up entrepreneurs to large multinationals.
